Education Costs: John Sununu Supports Bush Education Policies that Make it Harder to Pay for College

With sky high gas prices and rising health care costs, New Hampshire families are struggling to afford college, and John Sununu is just part of the problem. Sununu has supported Bush's education policies that make it harder to afford college.

  • Sununu cast the deciding vote for the largest cut to student loans in our nation's history, slashing $12.7 billion for families struggling to pay for higher education. [1]
  • Sununu put tax loopholes for hedge fund managers ahead of teachers and families struggling to pay for college. Just this summer, Sununu voted three times to raise taxes on 20,419 New Hamphsire teachers and 22,221 families paying for college instead of closing an offshore tax loophole for hedge fund managers. [2]
  • Sununu voted thirteen times against funding for Pell grants that help low-income families pay for college. [3]

Families are already struggling with higher grocery bills, high gas prices, rising unemployment, decreased home values and more, and John Sununu is just part of the problem, making it even harder to afford college. But nothing will change until we change senators.
