EARTHDAY WEB VIDEO: JOHN SUNUNU DOESN’T THINK HUMAN ACTIVITY CONTRIBUTES TO GLOBAL WARMING

(Manchester, NH) –The NHDP’s Coordinated Campaign released an Earth Day webvideo today examining John E. Sununu’s dangerous record onglobal warming and his previous statements that human activity does notcontribute to climate change.

“John E. Sununu’s extreme right-wing record onglobal warming poses an enormous threat to New Hampshire and theworld’s climate,” said Alex Reese, press secretaryfor the NHDP’s Coordinated Campaign. “Instead offighting to protect our environment, Sununu has marched in lock-stepwith Bush and the Republican party, ignoring the mountains ofscientific evidence showing that human activity contributes to globalwarming.”

In a 2005 letter to a constituent regarding global warming, Sununuwrote that he was doubtful of a “direct link between the temperature increase and human activity.” As the web videoshows, this statement ignores the results of a 2001 report by the NobelPrize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and theconclusions of nearly all the national science academies around theworld.
