Shameful Service To NH Veterans

New Hampshire is the only state without a full-service VA hospital, forcing veterans to choose between traveling to either Boston or Vermont for medical care.

To the Editors,

New Hampshire is the only state without a full-service VA hospital, forcing veterans to choose between traveling to either Boston or Vermont for medical care.

Sen. Judd Gregg has been in Congress since 1980 and Sen. John Sununu since 1996. These two men have served more than a combined 35 years in Congress and still have not delivered a full-service VA hospital to New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Senate approved a resolution calling for the restoration of the facility in Manchester to a full-service hospital.

To date, all Sen. Sununu has done on the matter was to write a letter to VA Secretary James Peake in support of the hospital. I am not aware of any work that Sen. Gregg has done.

As an Iraq veteran, and on behalf of our returning veterans, I must say it is absolutely shameful that both Sens. Gregg and Sununu supported the President’s call for war with Iraq but have not delivered a full-service VA hospital to New Hampshire.

That’s not supporting the troops.
