Disappointed in Sununu, Gregg
To the Editors:
I am greatly disappointed in the failures of Sens. John Sununu and Judd Gregg to support clean energy and efficiency voting in support of the economic stimulus bill. We have, in my opinion, a responsibility to take proper care of this planet in order that it may be of use to future generations. Passage of this bill would have meant positive steps being taken to help solve global warming and promote long-term development and growth in the clean energy industry.
We also might want to take into consideration that according the American Wind Energy Association, this negative vote may well cost the U.S. economy as many as 75,000 jobs. A study done by the Blue/Green Alliance shows that a positive vote might well have created another 5,000 jobs for people here in New Hampshire. I thought the senators were there to support and look out for the people of New Hampshire.
I urge Congress to make haste in finding another way to extend these critical incentives before the clean energy industry and our planet fall victim to inaction.
