Another Year, Another Failing Grade for Sununu on the Environment

(Manchester, NH) - Senator John E. Sununu, who just last year expressed skepticism that global warming is caused by humans, today received a failing grade of 53 percent from the League of Conservation Voters for his environmental record in 2007. The release of the LCV scorecard comes weeks after Sununu's deciding vote to protect $13 billion in subsidies for the oil and gas industry instead of investing that money in renewable energy and green collar jobs.

The League of Conservation Voters knows that John E. Sununu is on the wrong side of an issue vital to New Hampshire families: our environment and energy future," said Bill Lofy, director of the Stop Sununu campaign of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. "While Sununu's votes this year - against the energy bill, for more offshore oil drilling, against renewable energy tax credits - are bad enough, his statements about the environment are equally troubling. He has consistently expressed doubts about the reality of global warming, and he doesn't even consider carbon dioxide to be a pollutant.[1] Once again, Sununu is out of step with New Hampshire."
